Things that haven’t changed:

Phone numbers – all our phone numbers have remained the same.

Great staff – We have packed up all of our great staff with us!

Resources and reach – We will continue expanding our research and reach throughout the Eastern Suburbs.

Businessman buys four Vaucluse properties for $70 million as a knockdown

Four Vaucluse properties have been sold in one line for well in excess of $70 million to a Sydney businessman who plans to knock them down to build his own waterfront mega-mansion.

At that level the sale is higher than the Australian record sale of a single residence set last August when James and Erica Packer sold their nearby non-waterfront mansion to Chinese-Australian billionaire Chau Chak Wing.

Set on exclusive Coolong Road, the two most expensive properties in the deal are set on the waterfront, both owned by Colleen Shein, wife of technology entrepreneur and former Fairfax Media board member David Shein.

The remaining two houses are both non-waterfronts, the smallest of which was bought by Julia Singer, wife of lawyer Simon Singer, in 2013 for $5.51  million.

South African-born businessman Avron Cohen and his wife Jean have owned their street-front home with a swimming pool since 1995 when they purchased it for $1.3 million.

Talk of the sale has been rumoured about for months, but only proceeded once the Sheins agreed to sell their two properties earlier this week.

A source said the total deal was worth well in excess of Australia’s $70 million record house sale price, and another source said the deal could be worth closer to $80 million.

Settlement will reveal the result.

The combined land involved in the deal is 4270 square metres.

The Sheins have owned their Coolong Road home since 2000 when they bought it for $7.4 million from the Todhunter family, who had owned it for the previous 90 years and had a garden that dated back to the late 1920s.

Set on 1800 square metres the Sheins have undertaken a significant redesign of the property since. The Sheins purchased the waterfront property next door in 2010 for $14.05 million from the Taylor family.

The Sheins’ two waterfront properties are by far the most valuable properties in the deal, but a source said the non-waterfront homes would likely have been sold for waterfront values because their value increases as part of the larger holding.

David Shein, also from South Africa, was the founder and former managing director of Dimension Data Australia and is currently non-executive chairman of Montech Holdings.

Two doors from the Sheins’ Coolong Road property is the Sydney home of China’s billionaire internet entrepreneur Richard Liu, which was bought by his friend and associate Huang Qiaorong late last year for $36 million.

And so it goes … Billy Joel’s $27 Million Property Sale

Do you have a friend with a spare few dozen million and a penchant for sunshine?

Billy Joel’s movin’ out, his South Florida Coast spread is for sale and you should tell her (or him) about it – because it is an apparent bargain.

Joel is reportedly asking for $US2 million less than the last time it went to market.

According to Trulia, Joel only bought the two neighbouring Manalapan properties a year ago, for $US11.8 million ($A14.25 million) and $6.5 million ($A8.43 million) respectively.

Once you move in you can stay just the way you are because the mansion was renovated in 2015, with marble floors, a full new kitchen, brick barrel ceiling and additions to the main floor bedroom and bathroom.

The ocean is within a 100-metre walk, with access to a private dock for the inevitable yacht parties that would welcome uptown girls to the housewarming.

If more than three hectares of ocean front and a steady stream of cocktails doesn’t wet your whistle, there is also a glass-tiled pool, with lights designed for night swimming … oops wrong artist.

The shell-shaped, fountain hot tub is a pleaser, too – an addition that is perhaps a bit ’80s, but it’s still rock ‘n’ roll to Billy.

The singer songwriter is saying goodbye to the Hollywood-style life and putting down roots in Manhattan. His New York state of mind is expected to extend at least to the end of his artist residency in Madison Square Garden.

Joel could make a juicy profit on the deal – adding to a long list of profitable property sales in recent years in which he has shifted tens of millions of dollars worth of real estate.

Up the road from the blocks for sale in Manalapan Joel already owns seven-bedroom manor Paradisio del Mar, which he reportedly bought in February 2015 for $US22 million.

In 2014 the New York Post reported that the artist sold two homes in the Hamptons for a little under $US19 million.

Only the good buy young – or is that the rich?
